Mechanical & Plant Engineering

Norgren valves and systems are used across a variety of applications ranging from production machinery, heating and cooling systems to controlling key processes in manufacturing plants.

Our products and technical support are backed by our wide-ranging experience from working with customers across a range of industries and countries. Our success in creating market leading products is built on collaboration with our customers to designs solutions that work for their applications.

Applications

Machine cooling and other auxiliary systems

Injection moulding machinery, laser machinery, foundry equipment, printing machinery all use 2-way and 3-way valves to control either the process media or to manage auxiliary heating and cooling systems on board the machine. For example, On/off solenoid valves are used to control the cooling process on moulding machines after the moulding or machining process is complete. Angle seat valves are often used when the media flowing through the valve is at a very high temperature or contaminated. The Buschjost valve ranges are chosen over the competition as their reliability & long-life minimizes machine downtime.

Dust collection systems

Dust collection systems are used in primary industries and factories where contaminant particulates are a by-product of the manufacturing processes. These contaminants are removed from the air using baghouses or dust collector systems to prevent harm to people, environment or machinery. Dust filter valves, also known as pulse valves, are used to clean the dust collection systems (as more dust they collect the less effective they become over time). The Buschjost range includes both individual dust filter valves used to clean these filter elements as well as complete filter systems for baghouses with integrated filter valves.

Paper & print systems

Within the paper and print industry, solenoid valves account for the majority of the pneumatic products used in systems. Use of solenoid and proportional valves in the paper industry includes control of paper feed to the machine, regulating paper thickness, regulating coating used on the paper, controlling the paper rollers and tensioning. Industrial printing machinery use solenoid valves and media separated valves on print heads, to control the paper feed and in ink/solvent mixing and ink delivery. Norgren is the leading supplier of solenoid valves to the paper and print industry. Our FAS, Norgren and Buschjost brands are well-known throughout the industry for reliability, quality and high-life expectancy.

Compressed Air Systems

Compressed air is used in almost every industry including food & beverage, pharmaceutical, oil & gas, breweries, dairy and process industries. Clean and dry compressed air is an essential requirement for any efficient and reliable manufacturing or processing operation. Compressors operate by drawing in ambient air which often contains oil, water and other contaminants. This air must then be guided through a compressed air dryer or an adsorption tank for drying and cleaning. Our valves are used on both compressors as well as compressed air dryers/adsorption tanks. On compressors an indirectly actuated solenoid valve operated via a timing relay ensures the compressor is supplying the system within a few seconds of starting. On adsorption dryers, solenoid valves are used to control and direct the air into the chambers of the air dryer.

Products

Direct Acting Solenoid Valves

Valves directly actuated by the solenoid. Suited for use with neutral and aggressive gases and liquids.

Indirect Acting Solenoid Valves

Indirectly actuated valves use the pressure difference in the operating fluid to open and close the valve. This allows for lower power consumption and higher pressure in your system.

Dust Filter Valves

These valves provide an intense pulse of air blasts into the soiled filter element causing dust and loose dirt from the filter fall to the ground. Dust filter valves for air-blasting have been developed to allow efficient and inexpensive cleaning.

Angle Seat Pilot Valves

Angle seat pilot valves are robustly designed and are used in a wide variety of applications, including temperature stability applications, applications where resistance against aggressive mediums are required, or where fluids with high viscosity and contamination have to be controlled.

Proportional Valves

Proportional valves are sometimes referred to as I/P or E/P convertors. They convert a variable current or voltage signal into a proportional compressed air output. We offer a range of functions including open loop control, closed loop control, fail freeze options as well as ATEX options and the ability to program some of the functions and parameters.

Custom Solutions

Why buy components when you can purchase a ready to fit system?  Norgren Control cabinets, panels and manifolds integrate pneumatic and electronic components to provide the optimal system solution for your application.
